INTO THE WILD (2007)

Adventure / Drama 

Into the Wild is a 2007 American biographical adventure drama film written, co-produced, and directed by Sean Penn. It is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Jon Krakauer and tells the story of Christopher McCandless, a man who hiked across North America into the Alaskan wilderness in the early 1990s. The film stars Emile Hirsch as McCandless and Marcia Gay Harden and William Hurt as his parents; it also features Jena Malone , Catherine Keener , Brian Dierker, Vince Vaughn, Kristen Stewart , and Hal Holbrook .

Christopher McCandless, a young graduate, decides to renounce all his possessions and hitchhike across America. During his journey, he encounters several situations which change him as a person.

PLOT

In April 1992, Christopher McCandless arrives in a remote area just north of the Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Noting McCandless' unpreparedness, the stranger who drops him off gives him a pair of gumboots. McCandless travels into the wilderness and sets up a campsite in an abandoned city bus , which he calls "The Magic Bus." At first, McCandless is content with the isolation, the beauty of nature around him, and the thrill of living off the land. He hunts with a .22 caliber rifle, reads books, and keeps a diary of his thoughts as he prepares himself for a new life in the wild.

Two years earlier, in May 1990, McCandless graduates with high honors from

Emory University . Shortly afterwards, he rejects his conventional life by destroying all of his credit cards and identification documents. He donates nearly all of his savings to Oxfam and sets out on a cross-country drive in his Datsun 210 to experience life in the wilderness. McCandless does not tell his parents, Walt and Billie McCandless, or his sister Carine what he is doing or where he is going. He refuses to keep in touch with them after his departure, causing his parents to become increasingly anxious and eventually desperate.

At Lake Mead , McCandless' car is caught in a flash flood, causing him to abandon it and begin hitchhiking. He burns what remains of his cash and assumes a new name: "Alexander Supertramp." In Northern California , McCandless encounters a

hippie couple named Jan Burres and Rainey. Rainey tells McCandless about his failing relationship with Jan, which McCandless helps rekindle. In September, McCandless arrives in Carthage, South Dakota and works for a contract harvesting company owned by Wayne Westerberg. He is forced to leave after Westerberg is arrested for satellite piracy.

McCandless then travels on the Colorado River and, though told by park rangers that he may not kayak down the river without a license, ignores their warnings and paddles downriver until he eventually arrives in Mexico. There, his kayak is lost in a dust storm, and he crosses back into the United States on foot. Unable to hitch a ride, he travels on freight trains to Los Angeles . Not long after arriving, however, he starts feeling "corrupted" by modern civilization and decides to leave. Later, he is forced to resume hitchhiking, after being beaten by railroad police .

In December 1991, McCandless arrives at Slab City , in the Imperial Valley , and encounters Jan and Rainey again. There, he also meets Tracy Tatro, a teenage girl who shows interest in McCandless, but he rejects her because she is underage. After the holidays, McCandless decides to continue heading for Alaska. One month later, camping near Salton City , McCandless encounters Ron Franz, a retired man who recounts the story of the loss of his family in a car accident while he was serving in the United States Army . He now occupies his time in a workshop as an amateur leather worker. Franz teaches McCandless the craft of leatherwork, resulting in the making of a belt that details McCandless' travels. After spending two months with Franz, McCandless decides to leave for Alaska, despite this upsetting Franz, who has become quite close to McCandless. On a parting note, Franz gives McCandless his old camping and travel gear, along with the offer to adopt him as his grandchild, but McCandless simply tells him that they should discuss this after he returns from Alaska.

Four months later, at the abandoned bus, life for McCandless becomes harder, and he makes several poor decisions. As his supplies dwindle, he realizes that nature is harsh and uncaring. McCandless concludes that true happiness can be found only when shared with others, and he seeks to return from the wild to his friends and family. However, he finds that the stream he had crossed during the winter has become wide, deep, and violent due to the snow thaw, and he is unable to cross. Saddened, he returns to the bus. In a desperate act, McCandless is forced to gather and eat roots and plants. He confuses similar plants and eats a poisonous one, falling sick as a result. Slowly dying, he continues to document his process of self-realization and imagines what it might have looked like if he had managed to return to his family. He writes a farewell letter to the world and crawls into his sleeping bag to die.

An epilogue states that two weeks later, his body is found by moose hunters. Shortly afterwards, Carine returns to Virginia with her brother's ashes in her backpack.

PLOT

Jake del Mundo ( Gerald Anderson ) is a handsome boy who comes from a privileged background. After years as a carefree bachelor, he thinks he is now ready to settle down. On the night that he proposes marriage to his long-time girlfriend, Tracy, she finally has had enough of him and dumps him for another man. At the same time, Kristina "Tintin" Paraiso ( Arci Muñoz ) a make-up artist, idealistically dreams of a nearly "perfect" relationship and believes that the guy she's going out with is about to ask her to marry him. When he doesn't arrive to meet her in the restaurant, she finds out on Facebook that he has already committed himself to another girl, and shares her heartbreak on social media in a video that immediately goes viral.

After six months' time recovering from their failed relationships, Jake and Tintin meet in a beach resort that Jake owns, where Tintin is to work on an out-of-town job as a makeup artist with her colleagues Esang ( Cacai Bautista ), Ms. Andrè ( Ricci Chan ) and some friends. When the two cross paths, they end up spending an entire night drinking and talking about their personal lives until dawn. Before they part, they exchange numbers and agree to meet in Manila.

Jake, a hopeless romantic, and the jaded and outspoken Tintin, discovering each has been jilted, end up spending more and more time together. On a night out at a bar, they agree to be each other’s confidant to help find someone better than their exes.

PLOT

While police officer James Coffee ( Ed Helms ) enjoys his new relationship with Vanessa Manning ( Taraji P. Henson), her beloved 12-year-old son Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh) plots their break-up. Attempting to scare away his mom's boyfriend for good, Kareem tries to hire criminal fugitive Orlando Johnson ( RonReaco Lee ) to take him out but accidentally exposes a secret network of criminal activity involving drugs and dirty cops. This makes his family its latest target. To protect Vanessa, Kareem teams up with Coffee - the partner he never wanted - for a dangerous chase across Detroit trying to stay alive.

It is revealed that Coffee's Captain Hill ( David Alan Grier ) and Detective Watts ( Betty Gilpin ) are the bad cops. Watts murders Hill and ultimately kidnaps Vanessa and Kareem. Coffee is able to rescue them and the cops bust Watts's drug deal, with some help from Johnson, who never really wanted to be in drugs in the first place. Watts survives the explosion of the drug warehouse and tries to shoot Coffee, but Vanessa shoots her. Kareem finally admits that he's okay with Coffee dating his mom.

Snow White and the Huntsman is a 2012 American fantasy film based on the German fairy tale " Snow White " compiled by the Brothers Grimm . The film is the directorial debut of Rupert Sanders, with a screenplay by Evan Daugherty , John Lee Hancock and Hossein Amini , from a screen story by Daugherty. The cast includes Kristen Stewart , Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth , Sam Claflin , and Bob Hoskins in his final film performance. In the film's retelling of the tale, Snow White grows up imprisoned by her evil stepmother, Queen Ravenna, a powerful sorceress. After Snow White escapes into the forest, Ravenna tells Eric, the Huntsman that she will bring back his dead wife if he captures Snow White.

A huntsman is tasked with murdering Snow White, a princess, on the orders of her stepmother, the Evil Queen. Instead of killing her, he ends up becoming her protector.

PLOT

While admiring a rose blooming in the winter, Queen Eleanor of the kingdom of Tabor pricks her finger on one of its thorns. Drops of blood fall onto the snow, and she wishes for a daughter as white as the snow, with lips as red as the blood, hair as black as a raven's wings and heart as strong as the rose. She gives birth to a daughter, Snow White , but falls ill and dies several years later. After her death, Snow White's father, King Magnus, and his army battle an invading dark army of demonic glass soldiers. Upon rescuing their prisoner Ravenna, the King becomes enchanted with her beauty and marries her.

Ravenna is in fact a powerful sorceress and the Dark Army's master. On their wedding night, Ravenna confesses there was a king much like Magnus that hurt her. She declares she cannot be a weak queen and kills Magnus before taking over the kingdom. Snow White's childhood friend William and his father, Duke Hammond, escape the castle but are unable to rescue her, and she is captured and locked away in a tower for many years.

Tabor is ruined under Queen Ravenna's rule. She periodically drains the youth from the kingdom's young women in order to maintain a spell cast over her as a child by her mother, which allows her to keep her youthful beauty. When her stepdaughter Snow White comes of age, she learns from her Magic Mirror that Snow White is destined to destroy her unless she consumes the girl's heart, which will make her immortal. Ravenna orders her brother Finn to bring her Snow White's heart, but Snow White escapes into the Dark Forest, where Ravenna has no power. Ravenna makes a bargain with Eric the Huntsman, a widower and drunkard, to capture Snow White, promising to bring his wife back to life in exchange. The Huntsman tracks down Snow White, but when Finn reveals that Ravenna does not actually have the power to revive the dead, the Huntsman helps Snow White escape. Finn gathers a band of men to find her, and the Duke and William learn that she is alive. William leaves the castle to find her, joining Finn's band as a

bowman .

The Huntsman and Snow White leave the Dark Forest, where she saves his life by charming a huge troll that attacks them. They make their way to a fishing village populated by women who have disfigured themselves to make themselves useless to the Queen. The Huntsman learns Snow White's true identity, and leaves her in the care of the women. He returns when he sees the village being burned down by Finn's men. Snow White and the Huntsman evade them and meet a band of eight dwarves. The blind dwarf Muir perceives that Snow White is the only person who can defeat Ravenna and end her reign.

As they travel through a fairy sanctuary, they are attacked by Finn and his men. A battle ensues during which Finn, his men, and one of the dwarfs are killed, while William reveals himself and joins the group on their journey to Hammond's castle. Halfway there, Ravenna disguises herself as William and tempts Snow White into eating a poisoned apple. She flees when the Huntsman and William discover her. William kisses Snow White but she does not wake up (though no one notices the tear that comes from one of her eyes). Her body is taken to Hammond's castle. The Huntsman professes his regret for not being there to save her, as her heart and strength remind him of his late wife, Sara. He kisses her and does not notice a second tear fall from one of her eyes, as his kiss was second of true love needed. Snow White awakens and rallies the Duke's army to mount a siege against Ravenna.

The dwarves infiltrate the castle through the sewers and open the gates, allowing the Duke's army inside. Snow White confronts Ravenna, but is overpowered. Ravenna is about to kill her when Snow White uses a move the Huntsman taught her and mortally wounds Ravenna, defeating her for good. The kingdom once again enjoys peace and harmony as Snow White is crowned queen.

The Huntsman: Winter's War is a 2016 American fantasy action-adventure film , both a prequel and sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), it takes place before and after the events of the first film. It is written by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos , based on characters created by Evan Daugherty , which like the first film were inspired by the fairy tale " Snow White " compiled by the Brothers Grimm , as well as " The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen . Reprising their roles from the first film, the cast includes Chris Hemsworth , Charlize Theron, Nick Frost, and Sam Claflin . The film also introduced new characters played by Emily Blunt , Jessica Chastain , and Rob Brydon.

PLOT

Evil sorceress Queen Ravenna's powers allow her to know that her younger sister

Freya , whose powers have not yet emerged, is not only involved in an illicit affair with nobleman Andrew, but is also pregnant with his child. Freya gives birth to a baby girl and discovers that Andrew murdered their child. In grief-fueled rage, her broken heart freezes over and she kills him with her sudden emergence of powers - the elemental control of ice.

Freya builds herself a new kingdom up north. Ruling as the much-feared Ice Queen, she orders parents to be killed and their children to be abducted so they can be trained to be an army of huntsmen to conquer for her and avoid the pain of love that she suffered. Despite the training, two of her best huntsmen, Eric and Sara, fall in love. Sara claims Eric in "marriage" by giving him her mother's medallion necklace. They plan to escape to a free life together but are discovered by Freya. Sara is apparently killed while Eric is beaten and thrown into a river.

Seven years later, after Ravenna's death , Queen Snow White falls ill after hearing Ravenna's Magic Mirror beckon her. Because of its dark magic, she orders it to be taken to Sanctuary, the magical place that sheltered her during the events leading to Ravenna's defeat, so the Mirror's magic can be contained. Snow White's husband, William, informs Eric that the soldiers tasked with carrying the Mirror went missing en route. Knowing its dark magic can make Freya stronger, Eric agrees to try and retrieve the Mirror; Snow White's dwarf ally Nion and his half-brother Gryff accompany him.

They travel to the last location of the soldiers. Eric discovers they killed one another because they used their own weapons on each other. The trio are attacked by Freya's huntsmen and are rescued by Sara, revealed to be alive. Sara explains that she was imprisoned by Freya all this time, and only escaped recently. She has not forgiven Eric for abandoning her. They decipher that Eric was shown an illusion of Sara's death, while she was made to see him abandoning her rather than fighting to help. Eric manages to convince her that Freya tricked them.

That night, Eric and Sara make love. Sara later notices Eric still wears the necklace she gave him. The next day, the group go to the forest of the goblins who stole the mirror. They retrieve it and after a strong fight in which Eric protects Sara and she saves him, the group makes it out unharmed. Near the Sanctuary, Freya attacks and reveals Sara has been loyal to her all along. Sara shoots an arrow at Eric, who appears to die. Freya departs with the Mirror but is unaware that Sara purposely hit Eric's medallion necklace, protecting him from dying. At her palace, Freya resurrects Ravenna, who became one with the Mirror when Snow White vanquished her.

Eric attempts to assassinate Freya, but is stopped by Ravenna. Ravenna begins to kill the huntsmen, and Freya, realizing that she regards the huntsmen as her own children, protects them with an ice wall. As Eric, Sara, and the huntsmen climb over the wall to retrieve the Mirror, the sisters argue. Ravenna lets slip that she's responsible for Freya's powers. Suspicious, Freya forces Ravenna (who as the mirror's captive spirit must answer her summoner's questions truthfully) to reveal that the Mirror had told her Freya's child would become more beautiful than Ravenna. Ravenna then enchanted Andrew to kill the baby so she could remain "the fairest of them all". Outraged, Freya turns against her sister but is impaled by her. With her remaining strength, she freezes the Mirror and Eric shatters it, destroying Ravenna. As Freya dies, she smiles at a vision of herself holding her baby.

With Freya's death, those who had been imprisoned by her magic are set free. Eric, Sara and the huntsmen look forward to a new future, with Eric and Sara happy to have a free life together for the first time.

In a post-credits scene , Snow White is seen from behind, a mysterious golden bird lands on the balcony next to her.

It streams for free on iWant beginning this Friday (May 15).

The sexy suspense film was shot by the artists themselves from their own homes. The artists, in coordination with the directors, also had to be their own stylists, production designers, and location managers, with the guidance of directors Andoy Ranay, Darnel Villaflor, Noel Escondo, and Emmanuel Palo.

“Love Lockdown” brings together three stories set in the present quarantine period. It starts with seemingly happy couple Jacob (Jake) and Karen (Kylie), who are blissfully alone together in a condo of their own. Their paradise ends however, when Jacob’s wife Lesley (Angelica) discovers their illicit affair.

After finding out about her cheating husband, Lesley meets a new friend and becomes a part of an interwoven series of events involving other people isolating during lockdown.

The three-part original film is directed by Andoy Ranay, Darnel Villaflor, Noel Escondo, and Emmanuel Palo, and produced by Dreamscape Entertainment. It also serves as the reunion project of “That Thing Called Tadhana” lead stars Angelica and JM, “Los Bastardos” co-stars and real-life partners Jake and Kylie, and the “Hanggang Saan” on-screen duo of Arjo and Sue tagged as ArSue.

European mercenaries, including Irishman William Garin and Spaniard Pero Tovar, travel to China during the reign of the Song dynasty 's Renzong Emperor , searching for the secret to gunpowder . A few miles north of the Great Wall , they are attacked by a monster. Only William and Tovar survive. They sever the monster's arm and bring it with them. Reaching the Wall, they are taken prisoner by soldiers of the Nameless Order, led by General Shao and Strategist Wang. The Nameless Order exists to combat alien monsters called Tao Tei , which attack once every sixty years. The Tao Tei arrived from a meteorite. While examining the severed monster arm, the Order's commanders are surprised by the monsters' first assault one week early.

Shortly after, a monster horde assails the Wall. Both sides sustain heavy losses before the monsters' queen aborts the attack. During the battle, William and Tovar are freed by Ballard, another European who ventured east twenty-five years earlier, searching for gunpowder. Detained, he now serves as an English and Latin teacher. William and Tovar display amazing battle skills, saving the life of young warrior Peng Yong, then slaying two monsters, which earns the Order's respect. The three Europeans secretly plan to steal gunpowder and flee during the next monster attack.

That night, two Tao Tei reach the top of the Wall. General Shao is killed, placing Commander Lin in charge of the Nameless Order. Around this time, an envoy from the capital arrives with an ancient scroll which suggests that the monsters are pacified by magnets. Wang believes the stone William carries enabled him to slay the Tao Tei he fought at the cave. To test the hypothesis, William suggests they capture a Tao Tei alive and agrees to help. This delays his escape plans, angering Tovar, who nevertheless assists William despite Ballard's protests.

During the next attack, the Tao Tei are numerous enough to cause Lin to resort to using arrows equipped with black powder, whose capabilities had been kept secret from the Westerners until now. They capture a living Tao Tei and prove the theory. However, the Imperial envoy claims the monster and takes it to the capital to present to the Emperor.

A tunnel is discovered at the base of the Wall; the previous attacks had been a distraction so that the Tao Tei could dig the tunnel. While Lin investigates, Tovar and Ballard steal a supply of black powder and escape, knocking William unconscious for trying to stop them. William is arrested by the Nameless Order, and is locked up in the Wall. Some distance away, Ballard betrays and abandons Tovar, but is captured by bandits, who accidentally kill themselves and Ballard after igniting the powder. At the capital, the envoy presents the captive Tao Tei to the Emperor and his entourage, but it awakens and reveals its position to its queen, who signals the Tao Tei to attack.

The Order rushes to the capital. Lin orders the use of hot-air balloons, and before setting out, Lin sets William free. Wang tells him to warn the outside world, but William boards the last balloon with Peng and Wang. They arrive just in time to save Lin from being devoured. They land in the Emperor's palace, where Wang proposes killing the queen by tying explosives to the captured Tao Tei and giving it meat to be delivered to the queen. While approaching the site, a horde of Tao Tei attack the band, and Peng sacrifices himself to save the others.

After releasing the Tao Tei, Lin and William climb a tower so that William can detonate the explosives with an arrow. Wang sacrifices himself to buy time for Lin and William to reach the upper floors. Two of William's arrows are deflected by the Tao Tei queen's bodyguards, but William throws the magnet into the horde, creating a gap in the shields, allowing Lin's spear to get through. The queen is killed, and the rest of the horde is paralyzed. With the threat eliminated, William is allowed to return home and elects to take Tovar (whom the Nameless Order recaptured) with him instead of a reward of black powder, much to Tovar's annoyance.
