Empress Ki ( Korean : 기황후; Hanja: 奇皇后; RR : Gi Hwanghu ) is a South Korean historical drama television series starring Ha Ji-won as the titular Empress Ki . It aired on MBC from October 28, 2013 to April 29, 2014 on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55 for 51 episodes.

SYNOPSIS

The series revolves around Gi Seungnyang, a Goryeo-born woman who ascends to power despite the restrictions of the era's class system, and later marries Toghon Temür (Emperor of Mongol Empire) to become an empress of the Yuan dynasty , instead of her first love, Wang Yu. It managed to highlight the deep love the Emperor embedded in Lady Ki and depicts her loves and political ambitions.

The Queen Mother orders the assassination of her stepson to protect her own son's ability to become king. Ari, a shaman of the Royal Star Mansion (Royal Astrology House), witnesses the murder. The pregnant wife of the palace's Chief Scholar helps her escape, and Ari vows to protect her unborn child, who has a "noble fate."

Ari is arrested, tortured, and imprisoned. She tells her friend and fellow shaman, Jang Nok-yeong, to look after the unborn child in her stead. Ari is declared guilty of treason and killed.

Yeon-woo, the unborn child Ari swore to protect, and Crown Prince Lee Hwon fall in love. Prince Yang Myung, the Crown Prince's half-brother, has also fallen in love with Yeon-woo, who does not reciprocate his feelings.

The Queen Mother seeks to promote Bo-kyung, the daughter of the Prime Minister and her blood relative, to be the Crown Princess in order to maintain her clan's power. However, the king is impressed by Yeon-Woo's intelligence and chooses her over Bo-Kyung, infuriating the Queen Mother and Prime Minister Yoon.

The Queen Mother secretly orders Nok-yeong to cast a deadly curse on Yeon-woo so that Bo-kyung can take her place.

Yeon-woo is diagnosed with an unidentifiable illness, expelled from the palace, and loses her title as Crown Princess. She "dies" from this illness and is buried. Nok-yeong digs Yeon-woo out of the grave; the spell is temporary and only mimics the appearance of death. However, Yeon-woo is so traumatized by being buried alive that she has lost all of her memories. She and Nok-yeong leave the capital.

Crown Prince Lee Hwon is unwillingly married to Bo-kyung. He refuses to consummate the marriage by citing an unnamed illness; he broods over his "dead" first love, Yeon-woo.

Eight years later, Lee Hwon is now king. Yeon-woo is now Shaman Wol (which means "moon"); unaware of Wol's true identity, the Queen Mother calls her to the palace so that she can cure the king's "illness." The king is struck by Wol's unmistakeable resemblance to Yeon-woo, and he quietly launches an investigation into Yeon-woo's death. Meanwhile, Wol struggles to understand the strange memories of her life as Yeon-woo, which she interprets as shamanic visions. Wol must fight Queen Bo-Kyung, the Queen Mother, and Prime Minister Yoon in order to reclaim her rightful place as the Queen of Joseon. Ashfall ( Korean : 백두산; Hanja: 白頭山; RR : Baekdusan ), also known as: Mount Paektu, is a 2019 South Korean action film directed by Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo, starring Lee Byung-hun , Ha Jung-woo , Ma Dong-seok , Bae Suzy and Jeon Hye-jin . The film was released in December 2019 in South Korea.

PLOT

Mt. Paektu, an active volcano straddling the China–North Korea border, suddenly erupts, causing severe earthquakes in both North and South Korea. Pandemonium ensues on the Korean peninsula , with more eruptions predicted in the area. To prevent another disaster, Jeon Yoo-kyung ( Jeon Hye-jin ) plans an operation based on a theory by Professor Kang Bong-rae ( Ma Dong-seok ), who had studied Mt. Baekdu and its possible future eruptions.

Jo In-chang ( Ha Jung-woo ) is assigned to be the captain of a special forces team taking part in the operation. Jo In-chang contacts Lee Joon-pyeong ( Lee Byung-hun) who is part of the Korean People's Army in North Korea as a spy. Meanwhile, Jo In-Chang's pregnant wife Choi Ji-young ( Bae Suzy ) is alone in Seoul, who is struggling to survive against the disaster.

In-Chang departs with his team on a plane, and they parachute after their airplane malfunctions. They locate Joon-pyeong, who was being held in a North Korean prison, and seek his knowledge in finding the correct mine closest to Mt. Paektu's

caldera . After threatening his dying wife to disclose the location of his daughter, Joon-pyeong guides In-chang's team to a power station, and they extract a piece of uranium from a nuclear missile. This alerts the American garrison in South Korea, who sends soldiers to stop Joon-pyeong from delivering the uranium piece to several gangsters from China.

In-chang and Joon-pyeong evade the Americans and reach Bocheon , a town near Mt. Paektu. Joon-pyeong meets his frightened daughter, and just as the Chinese gangsters almost kill him for failing to deliver the uranium, In-chang gives the uranium, but sets its timer to coincide with Mt. Paektu's eruption. Although the American soldiers also arrive to take the uranium, they and the Chinese gangsters flee when Mt. Baekdu erupts again, triggering more earthquakes. In-chang and Joon-pyeong bring the uranium to a mine with Joon-pyeong takes the bomb into the mine's depths, leaving In-chang to go with Joon-pyeong's daughter, which he adopts. The uranium bomb explodes and stops the earthquakes, saving many lives.

One year later, North and South Korea together oversee the reconstruction of the peninsula. In-chang and Ji-young have a baby son.

PLOT

A missing person case involving a female university student and the victim in a hit and run case appears to be related. Detectives look for a witness.

Min Soo-ah used to be a promising cadet at the police academy but after a horrific car accident which killed her surrogate brother Dong-hyun and caused her to lose her eyesight, her police career ended. Soo-ah reveals to Detective Jo at the police station that on the night of the hit and run case she was picked up by a taxi cab driver. Soo-ah believes the taxi driver may be the perpetrator of the crimes. Initially, Detective Jo doesn't take Soo-ah's claims seriously because she is blind, but when Soo-ah displays her acute senses, the detective starts to believe her.

Detective Jo and Soo-ah then work together to find the taxi cab driver, but all their leads turn up empty. Then another witness comes forward, Kwon Gi-seob. Gi-seob is a motorcycle delivery boy who claims to have also witnessed the hit and run incident. Gi-seob emphatically states that the car in question was not a taxi cab, but rather an imported sedan.

Meanwhile, Soo-ah finds herself being stalked by a mysterious man who turns out to be the killer, gynecologist Myung-jin. Soo-ah, while in the car with him, remembered that he had a strong scent, he had a watch on his right hand, and he gave her an iced coffee drink in a glass can. While in the car with him, they hit a bump while in an argument. The body of the dead university student rolls out of the trunk and Myung-jin gets out to examine it. When Soo-ah goes out as well to inspect the damage done, he claims that he hit a dog, but she reasons with him, starting another fight. He leaves her in the rain when another car comes. The reason why she was in the car with him is because she needed a ride back from visiting the orphanage she used to grow up in.

One night when Gi-seob is walking home alone, he is followed by Myung-jin. Gi-seob at first runs away, but is snuck up on and hit by a brick. An ambulance comes and Detective Jo and Soo-ah drive to the scene. Gi-seob gets annoyed by Soo-ah's constant nagging, and on the day of his release, storms out in anger. When he reaches the nearly-empty subway station, he sees Soo-ah on the other side and then sees her ride the subway followed by the killer. He calls her on her phone and tells her urgently that the killer is in front of her. As he runs to catch up with her, she goes on FaceTime and shows him her location and surroundings. He guides her out of the subway and to safety, as well as her seeing eye dog , Seul-gi. She reaches into her handbag and sprays the killer's eyes with her pepper spray and runs off with Seul-gi. When she reaches the elevator, she thought that she'd be safe, but the killer quickly gets in and kills Seul-gi.

When Soo-ah wakes up, she asks for her seeing dog, but Gi-seob hands her the blood-stained leash. At home she gets a call from an unknown number. The caller warns her away from the case. "You can't see me, but I'm watching you." A few days later, Detective Jo finds the killer. They get into a violent fight, in which the detective dies and the killer drives off. Meanwhile, Gi-seob and Soo-ah visit the orphanage again when they're asked to watch over it while the school director takes the children out. The killer enters the living room and lights a cigarette and listens to some music. Soo-ah, annoyed by the music, goes downstairs to turn it off. She reprimands Gi-seob for playing it, but smells the cigarette smoke. Gi-seob goes upstairs and fights the killer while Soo-ah runs away, reaching the car and breaking its windows with the motion sensor. The killer attacks her but she hits him on the head, making him fall unconscious. The police find Detective Jo's body and other evidence implicating Myung-jin as the killer and he is put in jail. Soo-ah is re-admitted to the police academy and graduates, while Gi-seob also enrolls in the police academy.

Days later, the missing girl is found dead in a vacant lot. Yang Choon-Dong is chewed out for not solving the case. During the evening news, Yang Choon-Dong watches a report on the missing girl case. The news report shows the crime scene from a distance. A chill suddenly runs through Yang Choon-Dong. He thinks back to the graffii incident in the dark alley. The graffiti that guy painted perfectly depicted the crime scene where the missing girl was found. Yang Choon-Dong becomes confused, because the graffiti was spray painted about a month before the girl's body was found. Yang Choon-Dong begins to hunt for the guy who spray painted the graffiti.

When Yang Choon-Dong finally tracks down the young man, he gets way more than he expected. The young man is able to recount a traumatic childhood incident that occurred to Yang Choon-Dong that nobody should know about. It turns out the young man named Kim Joon has a special "psychometry" ability, which allows him to read someone's past by simply touching them. His special gift though has haunted him all throughout his life.

PLOT

Firefighter Kim Ja-Hong ( Cha Tae-Hyun ) dies in the line of duty and is escorted to the afterlife by 3 guardians, Haewonmak ( Ju Ji-Hoon ), Lee Deok-Choon ( Kim Hyang-Gi ) and their leader Gang-Rim ( Ha Jung-Woo ). He finds out that that they are to escort and defend him in 7 trials in 49 days. If he passes the trials, he will be reincarnated and his guardians will be given credit towards their own reincarnation.

In the first court, Hell of Murder, Ja-Hong is tried for the indirect murder of his colleague, his superior, in a fire where Ja-Hong allegedly left him to die. He is about to be sentenced when it is revealed that he had done so only on the orders of his superior, had saved the lives of 8 others in the incident and had attempted to go back to rescue him only to be held back by other colleagues. The judge determines that the murder charge was groundless and Ja-Hong is freed.

In the 2nd court, Hell of Indolence, where those who whiled away their life in laziness and inaction are punished. Ja-Hong was presented by his guardians as someone who spent his free time helping others and working. Ja-Hong blurts out that he only worked for the money and was about to be punished when Gang-Rim interjects that the only reason Ja-Hong did so was to earn money support his ailing mother and his brother. Ja-Hong’s actions are determined to be selfless and he is freed.

On the way to the Hell of Deceit, Ja-Hong learns that one of the perks of being reincarnated would be that he would be given the ability to communicate to anyone living through their dreams once. Along the way they are attacked by ghouls and notice the physics of Hell beginning to operate differently. This change indicates that a member of Ja-Hong’s family had died with a grudge and has become a vengeful spirit. Gang-Rim leaves the party to investigate and the rest make their way to the court. In the Hell of Deceit, Ja-Hong is accused of writing fake letters to the family of those who had died, one of whom is Ji-Yeon, the daughter of his fallen superior, making him a liar. Gang-Rim manages to use a connection he has with Deok-Choon to defend his actions, stating that Ja-Hong had also written fake letters to his mom to cheer her up, allowing her to focus on her health. His letters to Ji-Yeon, despite her actually understanding that her father was dead, also helped her to cope with her loss. The evidence is thrown out and the charges are dismissed.

Gang-Rim determines that it is Ja-Hong’s brother Soo-Hong who has become the vengeful spirit. He travels to Soo-Hong’s military camp, where the buzz is that Soo-Hong, who was about to be discharged, had deserted and was nowhere to be found. He finds that Soo-Hong has been accidentally killed while on guard duty by his partner Dong-Yeon, and his death was covered up by his superior Lieutenant Park. Gang-Rim foils an attempt by Soo-Hong to kill Dong-Yeon, and learns that the reason for Soo-Hong becoming a vengeful spirit wasn’t Ja-Hong leaving and not coming home till he was a dead body, but his anger and sense of betrayal towards Dong-Yeong and Lt Park.

Dong-Yeon tips off the Soo-Hong’s mother on the location of his body and attempts suicide. He is saved by Gang-Rim on Soo-Hong’s request after the latter agreed to cooperate.

Ja-Hong, Haewonmak and Deok-Choon, pass through the Hells of Injustice and Betrayal without trial. In the Hell of Violence, Ja-Hong is tried for beating up Soo-Hong when they were younger and the latter was suffering from malnutrition. As Ja-Hong was not forgiven, he is convicted and is about to be punished when Gang-Rim instructs Deok-Choon to request for a combined trial at the next court, the Hell of Filial Impiety, as the situation is linked. The request is granted.

Ja-Hong reveals that the motivation for him beating up Soo-Hong was that; at that time, the family were poor and their mother was ailing. Ja-Hong has intended to suffocate his sleeping mother then kill Soo-Hong and himself from a drug overdose but was discovered. In a fit, he beat up Soo-Hong and fled the family home in shame and guilt, opting not to be a burden and dedicate his life to supporting them.

Gang-Rim, Soo-Hong and his mother arrive at the army base only to witness her shabby treatment at the hands of Lt Park. Enraged, Soo-Hong transforms back into his vengeful spirit form and lashes out, damaging the army base in an attempt to harm Lt Park and only stopping when he realizes how his actions are affecting Ja-Hong in the afterlife.

At the Hell of Filial Impiety Ja-Hong is immediately judged by Yeomra to be guilty. He learns that on the night of his attempted murder-suicide, he had assumed that his mother was sleeping when he was about to suffocate her, when in reality she was awake and aware and had decided to allow it, knowing that she was a burden on her family; with his sins also compounded by him being away from his family for 15 years and not seeking forgiveness. Soo-Hong, with the help of Gang-Rim and Haewonmak, enters his mother’s dream and learns that she had already forgiven Ja-Hong for that night. Since sins that have been forgiven in the living world are not allowed to be judged in the afterlife, Ja-Hong is allowed to be reincarnated.

Gang-Rim realizes that Yeomra had been meddling with his investigation in the living world. He decides to confront Yeomra directly and chooses Soo-Hong to be the next and last soul that the guardians need to attain their own reincarnation.

A man's car is hit by a stranger who kills him when he gets down to take pictures of the damage for claiming car insurance. Jung Tae-suk is an honest cop who goes through the crime scene and suspects it to be the work of a serial killer, but his senior does not believe him.

Gangster Jang Dong-soo is on his way home after a meeting when the same killer hits his car and eventually tries to kill him. A brutal fight ensues, leaving both of them injured. Finally, the killer escapes after knocking Dong-soo with his car. Dong-soo is admitted to the hospital, and his henchmen assume that the attack was committed by a rival gang, whom they counter-attack. However, Dong-soo believes the killer was not a rival gang member as his moves seemed to be random and purposeless. Tae-suk visits Dong-soo at the hospital and asks him to cooperate so that he can catch the killer for him, but Dong-soo does not comply. Instead, Dong-soo orders his men to find the killer through a sketch, and they manage to find his car and a knife. Dong-soo eventually informs Tae-suk of the findings, and they decide to team up to catch the mysterious killer. Dong-soo agrees to provide manpower and cover expenses — but on the condition that the killer belongs to the one who finds him first. Dong-soo wants to kill him for revenge while Tae-suk wants to arrest him in order to solve five connected murder cases and then eventually get promoted.

Meanwhile, Dong-soo orders his right-hand man, Kwon Oh-sung, to kill his rival Heo Sang-do with the killer's knife that already has the blood imprints of the killer's previous victims. An enraged Tae-suk gets into a fight with Dong-soo upon learning what he has done as the killing is confirmed to be the serial killer's work and the case would get transferred to the Major Case Squad. Dong-soo visits Sang-do's funeral where the killer also turns up informing Sang-do's second-in-command man that it was Dong-soo who actually killed Sang-do with the killer's knife.

When Tae-suk and Dong-soo check the killer's car for any evidence, they are attacked by Sang-do's henchmen. A fight ensues, resulting in the death of Sang-do's right-hand man. Dong-soo gets him buried and clears the scene. Tae-suk is now assigned to investigate a kidnapping case, and, while solving it, he spots the killer. A chase ensues, but the killer flees. Through the forensic tests, Tae-suk discovers the killer to be a missing person. He informs Dong-soo about this and lets him hear a voice clip to confirm the missing person to be the killer. Later, Dong-soo helps a school girl by giving her his umbrella and soon learns that she has been killed and his umbrella was found at the crime scene. They start looking for the killer and eventually find him in a car. In an ensuing chase, the killer manages to kill Oh-sung but is finally captured and incapacitated by Dong-soo. The gangster takes the killer away to torture and kill him, but Tae-suk tracks them and crashes his car into the hideout, hitting Dong-soo unconscious and arresting the killer.

With no conclusive evidence against the killer whose name is revealed to be Kang Kyung-ho, Dong-soo, being the sole survivor of his attack, testifies against him and proves him guilty when scars caused by Dong-soo's stabbing due to self-defense are demonstrated on Kyung-ho's body. The court sentences Kyung-ho to death; however, Dong-soo is also arrested due to his criminal activities. Tae-suk is finally promoted while Dong-soo gets transferred to the prison where Kyung-ho is also kept — the condition that Dong-soo had requested Tae-suk to fulfill in exchange for the testimony followed by his arrest. While Kyung-ho is having a shower, Dong-soo closes the tap and approaches him with a smile and a rope in his hands.

PLOT

Lee Yoo-jin is a transfer student from Seoul , and along with two of her friends, she is constantly being bullied by a group of classmates. One night, Yoo-jin and her friends decide to place a curse on their enemies by creating a Ouija board on which they write the names of the female bullies. Using the Bunshinsaba curse, her friend warns the others not to open their eyes until the spell is finished. The calling takes effect, and Yoo-jin, somewhat curious, opens her eyes. To her shock and horror, she sees an image of a pale-like dead girl with long hair beside her.

The next morning when Yoo-jin enters the classroom, she discovers the corpse of one of the bullies on top of the desk, with a burned face. Meanwhile, the school hires a volunteer teacher, Lee Eun-ju, as the new art instructor. She starts to call the roll in her class and stumbles on seat number 29 as she mentions the name of a deceased girl, Kim In-sook. The students are terrified when they hear the name, and rush out of the classroom when they see her talking to thin air. The only one left is Yoo-jin, who tells Eun-ju that Kim In-sook doesn't exist. Eun-ju takes another look at the seat and realizes that there's no name at seat number 29. Suddenly, Yoo-jin sees a figure on Eun-ju's back. Investigations soon rise as the other three bullies die in the same manner. Finally, Yoo-jin realizes that the spirit of Kim In-sook is possessing her. She was the one who killed all of those bullies, even though she doesn't remember doing it.

Eun-ju also senses a terrible force and unearthly presence surrounding Yoo-jin. Mr. Han, Yoo-jin's class adviser, decides to help out by consulting his friend on what is causing her to act strangely. Through hypnotism, they are able to see a vision of the past showing how Kim In-sook and her mother Chun-hee were brutally killed by the villagers, and before dying, they placed a curse that for generations to come, whoever left the village would die. As Chun-hee finally takes possession of Eun-ju's body, she exacts punishment on the people who wronged them, slaying the school's principal but sparing Mr. Han's life.

Not long after, Eun-ju gives birth to a girl and within that girl's body is the spirit of Kim In-sook.

Hope ( Korean : 소원; RR : Sowon), also known as Wish , is a 2013 South Korean film directed by Lee Joon-ik , starring Sol Kyung-gu , Uhm Ji-won and Lee Re. It won Best Film at the 34th Blue Dragon Film Awards .

PLOT

A young girl named So-won lives an idyllic life with her working class parents Dong-hoon and Mi-hee. One day on her way to school, So-won is kidnapped, beaten and raped by a male stranger before being left for death. Fortunately, she survives and is able to call an ambulance.

The police notify Dong-hoon and Mi-hee of the attack and they rush to the emergency ward. Upon their arrival at the hospital, they are horrified by the extent of So-won's injuries. So-won suffers from multiple internal injuries and has to undergo major surgeries. Dong-hoon is advised by a surgeon that So-won will have to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. Once So-won regains consciousness, she is able to identify her attacker with the help of Jung-sook, a psychiatrist.

So-won's attacker is arrested at his home, and the case becomes a media sensation much to the horror of her family and friends. When the reporters converge at the hospital, Dong-hoon takes So-won to a different room and hides her from the media attention. So-won exhibits symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and briefly mistakes her father for her attacker, screaming at him as he tries to fix her colostomy bag. Dong-hoon is heartbroken by this episode, and is further hurt when So-won refuses to look at him or speak to him.

Mi-hee initially refuses psychological help for her daughter as she wishes for So-won to resume her normal life. However, she relents after understanding her daughter's mental state and enlists the help of Jung-sook. Dong-hoon struggles to pay for medical expenses and calls his friend and manager, Gwang-sik, with the intent of quitting his job to help take care of his family. Gwang-sik is aware of Dong-hoon's situation and convinces him to keep his job, also providing him with money to pay for So-won's medical bills.

Mi-hee and her friends rent mascot costumes to play with So-won to help cheer her up; this gives Dong-hoon the idea to hide underneath the costume of his daughter's favorite cartoon character, Cocomong, in order to communicate with her. So-won is unaware of who is underneath the costume, but she opens up to "Cocomong" and allows him to give her a hug. Gradually, So-won's physical condition improves and she is able to return home. During the car ride home, So-won vomits after passing the site where she was attacked. She and her parents are soon comforted as they notice that the local community has decorated their home with notes of encouragement. Mi-hee is touched as she sees that their home had also been cleaned during their absence.

Dong-hoon resumes work but also finds the time to dress up as Cocomong and accompany So-won on her way to and from school. Soon, her mental state improves and she realises that her father has been hiding underneath the costume the entire time. Touched by his love and concern for her, she takes off the head of the costume and is able to look at her father for the first time since her hospitalisation.

The family is worried about the upcoming trial as So-won has to testify against her attacker. With great effort, they attend the trial and So-won describes what happened during the attack and identifies her attacker. Unfortunately, the man is only sentenced to 12 years in prison, angering So-won's family and friends. A fight breaks out in the courtroom with Dong-hoon intending to kill the attacker. So-won stops Dong-hoon and begs him to take her home. The family leaves the courtroom with little closure.

Some time later, Mi-hee has given birth to a son and is congratulated by family and friends, including Jung-sook and Gwang-sik. In the closing narration, So-won confides that she still struggles mentally and often has to leave school early, though the birth of her brother has given her a renewed sense of purpose.

SYNOPSIS

PLOT

Kim Hae-Kyung ( Song Seung-Heon ) is a successful psychiatrist, but he has only experienced heartbreak with women in his personal life. He is also a foodie and often meets his clients, while having a meal.

Woo Do-Hee ( Seo Ji-Hye ) works for a media company that produces content for streaming services like YouTube. She goes to Jeju with the feeling that her boyfriend will propose to her there, but she only finds heartbreak. While she reels from her latest breakup, she runs into Psychiatrist Kim Hae-Kyung, who sat next to her on the flight to Jeju, and they decide to have dinner together. A love-hate relationship soon develops between these two headstrong individuals, even though they don't know each other's name.

When they get back to Seoul, Woo Do-Hee's boss wants her to produce a new show with Psychiatrist Kim Hae-Kyung or she will have to work with her ex-boyfriend. Woo Do-Hee is unaware that Psychiatrist Kim Hae-Kyung is the man she keeps running into.

SYNOPSIS

Crash Landing on You tells the story of two star crossed lovers, Yoon Se-ri ( Son Ye-jin), a South Korean Chaebol heiress, and Ri Jeong-hyeok ( Hyun Bin), a member of the North Korean elite and a Captain in the North Korean Special Police Force. One day while Yoon Se-ri goes for a short paragliding ride in Seoul , South Korea, a sudden tornado knocks her out and blows her off course. She awakens to find her paraglider had crashed into a tree in a forest in the DMZ in North Korea (an area forbidden for South Koreans). She then meets Ri Jeong-hyeok and falls into his arms when descending from the tree. Ri Jeong-hyeok eventually gives Yoon Se-ri shelter, and develops plans to secretly help her return to South Korea. Over time, they fall in love, despite the divide and dispute between their respective countries .

Her family suppresses the news of her disappearance out of fear that it will depress the stock price of the family-controlled chaebol. In particular, Se-ri's two brothers, Se-jung and Se-hyung who are rivals, both claiming to be the rightful heir to their father's company. Just before Se-ri's disappearance, their father had announced that he planned to anoint her as heir because his sons are incompetent. Her brothers are supported by their equally ambitious wives, Do Hye-Ji ( Hwang Woo-seul-hye ) and Ko Sang-a ( Yoon Ji-min ).

Se-ri's and Jeong-hyeok's story is intertwined with that of Seo Dan ( Seo Ji-hye ) and Gu Seung-jun ( Kim Jung-hyun ). Dan is the beautiful daughter of a wealthy North Korean department store owner. She has been studying cello in Russia for several years but returns so that she can marry Jeong-hyeok, to whom she is engaged through an arranged marriage (and whom she has only met a few times). As she returns to Pyongyang, she crosses paths, not for the first time, with Gu Seung-jun. Gu Seung-jun, who had previously been engaged to Se-ri, fled to North Korea (under the protection of corrupt North Korean officers) in order to escape from the pursuit of Se-ri’s brother Se-hyung, under whose incompetent watch he had embezzled large amounts of money. Although their initial encounters are unpleasant, they eventually fall in love.

The story follows Jeong-hyeok and Se-ri as they try to get her home. They both also discovered how their fate was connected with each other before even they had met . They are impeded by Cho Cheol-gang ( Oh Man-seok ), an evil State Security officer, who a number of years ago had arranged for the murder of Jeong-hyeok's older brother, an officer who tried to expose him. The story eventually shifts to Seoul where both comedy and drama ensue for all four main characters, Se-ri’s family, and the arch-villain Cho Cheol-gang.
